Brandywine, 1777
We will be accompanied by Brandywine, 1777 – A Time for Heroes. Play as General Howe or General Washington and relive this decisive battle of the War of Independence. Bluffing, anticipation and risk-taking will be at the heart of your strategy: will you be able to thwart your opponent’s plans and seize the initiative at the right moment?
Austerlitz – Coup de Tonnerre !
Austerlitz – Coup de Tonnerre! is coming in strong! Relive one of the most legendary battles of the Napoleonic era. Play as Napoleon and defeat the forces of the Third Coalition in a thrilling tactical battle where every decision can change the fate of Europe!
Our English-speaking friends got a sneak preview at PunchedCON 2025… and they loved it!
Sainte Hélène – L’envol de l’Aigle
And finally, you can try to save Napoleon by helping him escape from the island of Saint Helena, but how can you get past Sir Hudson Lowe‘s effective surveillance? Saint Helena – L’envole de l’Aigle is a semi-cooperative game where you will have to use every trick in the book… even if it means betraying your allies.
ASYNCONV 2025
Brandywine, 1777 – A Time for Heroes in large format at ASYNCONV!
Valentin Crespel, co-designer of Brandywine, 1777 – A Time for Heroes, will be present at ASYNCONV in July near Tours to host the game… in giant format!
Place:
Salle des fêtes Rue du Petit Plessis 37520 La Riche
The perfect opportunity to dive into the heart of the American War of Independence, with tokens, cards in hand and strategy in mind. Perhaps even a skirmish on Gettysburg?
Come and see it, discuss game design and roll the dice on an extraordinary battlefield!
PunchedCON 2025
In May, we bravely crossed the Channel to attend PunchedCON in Coventry: several glorious days spent pushing pawns, sipping tea (beer), and asserting without batting an eyelid that ‘the demo lasts barely 30 minutes’ (spoiler: yes for Austerlitz and no for Brandywine).
Andy Loakes (left) and Yves Roig (right) at the end of a fierce game of Austerlitz – Coup de Tonnerre!
On the agenda: Brandywine, 1777 – A Time For Heroes, heroically presented and adjusted on the battlefield (everything is historical, even the unexpected). Austerlitz – Coup de Tonnerre!, fine-tuned with my friend Andy Loakes, game developer and proud local — living proof that Napoleon never really left England (at least in the special rules).
What can we remember?
British players are sharp, curious, and extremely polite.
You can talk about cavalry tactics and biscuits in the same sentence.
Coventry knows how to welcome wargamers (even without rain, which is saying something).
Will we go back? Of course. As sure as tea is strong and the order of milk or tea divides households. Thank you PunchedCON — see you next year, dear friends!

Who we are
Fancy some history… and some fun?
Welcome to Les 3 Zouaves!
Hello to all history buffs, avid gamers, families looking for new fun adventures… and anyone who loves seeing the past come to life around a table!
At Les 3 Zouaves, we have a simple belief: history (with all its highs and lows, heroes and darker figures) is an INCREDIBLE playground. So we decided to dust off the textbooks and transform key events into captivating gaming experiences.
Are you the type who likes to relive heroic battles, devise strategies worthy of the greatest generals, or immerse yourself in the daily life of another era? Our future games are designed to thrill you, make you think… and above all, entertain you!
Our secret recipe? Game mechanics that are as simple as pie, but with a strategic depth that will tickle your brain. No more lengthy rules that discourage you before you even start playing! Our ambition is to offer you games where the pleasure of playing takes precedence over complexity. We want you to spend more time immersing yourself in the action than deciphering a dense rulebook.
And what about emotion? That’s at the heart of our project. We want each game to be an adventure, a moment of intense sharing. We want you to feel the tension of a decisive battle, the pride of a hard-won victory, or even the melancholy of an honourable defeat. Our games are designed to make you experience a range of emotions, whether you’re playing alone, with a partner, with friends or with family.
Have fun with us! Les 3 Zouaves
Festival International des Jeux de Cannes 2025
Carré Histoire – Cannes 2025: we were there, we held out, and we (almost) survived!
In early 2025, we arrived at the FIJ’s Carré Histoire like a battalion on a mission: Gettysburg, Brandywine, and a few nuggets from our Sound of Drums comrades under our arm.
Valentin was making heroic charges on Brandywine, Sébastien was holding the line at Gettysburg from time to time, but often on the offensive! And I, Yves Roig, provided logistical, strategic and tactical support… and caffeine.

Two prestigious generals accompanied us: Uwe Walentin, in Blitzkrieg mode, with Assault, Hellas, Eylau – three fronts, zero prisoners.
Jason St Just, a revolutionary through and through, presented 1793 – Traitors and Patriots with as warm a welcome as a speech by Danton.

The result? Lots of people, lots of laughter, lots of sweaty fun, enthusiastic feedback, Little sleep, But above all: a huge amount of pleasure shared with all the fans who came to see us!
Would you do it again? Of course we would. But give us a week’s nap first.

2nd December 1805. Three Emperors. One field. A clash of strategic lightning bolts. Napoleon strikes fast, strikes hard – and changes war forever.
